La actualización de procesador tiene un precio muy ajustado, a la altura de la joya informática que representan los Powerbook Pismo y Powerbook G3 2000.
Powerlogix ha anunciado un precio de 299$ para el modelo G3 800 Mhz y 349$ para el modelo a 900 Mhz.

AUSTIN –April 24, 2003 — PowerLogix today announced shipment of the first ever software-controlled, variable speed CPU upgrade. Available for the PowerBook G3 Pismo (aka Firewire or PowerBook G3 2000), the Blue Chip G3 Pismo can be adjusted instantly ‘on the fly’ (i.e., no reboot required) to a lower clock speed in order to extend battery life.
The Blue Chip G3 Pismo is available in 800MHz and 900MHz models. Tests show that up to 30 minutes of additional battery life can be obtained by lowering the clock speed, which can be very useful in certain situations, such as long plane flights. In many cases, such as word processing, sheer clock speed takes a back seat to battery life, and in the Blue Chip G3 Pismo offers the best of both worlds. The clock speed is user adjustable down to 300 MHz. The Blue Chip G3 features the IBM 750FX PowerPC CPU, with 512K of L2 cache running at the same speed as the processor.

Recientemente leí un artículo muy interesante sobre una persona que se había instalado un procesador G4 a 500 Mhz de la marca PowerLogix para un PowerBoook G3 Pismo. Según él era una maravilla, tanto el trato recibido, la profesionalidad como el rendimiento de la actualización.
Relamente me maravilló leer dicho artículo y me estaba panteando hacer lo mismo que esta persona con mi Pismo, pero hace un par de dias estuve chateando con otra persona que se habia actulizado el mismo Pismo pero con un procesador G3 a 900 Mhz de la misma casa y decía que todo habían sido problemas y que el portátil le habia dejado de funcionar despues de varias diaas dándole mucho quebraderos de cabeza.
Alguien ha vivido/disfrutafo/sufrido alguna experiencia similar con actualizaciones de portátiles Pismo?
