Steve Jobs habla sobre la muerte

En su conferencia en Stanford en 2005, Steve habló con sinceridad y emoción, de su visión de los negocios y de su experiencia humana. Sobre la muerte dijo esto:

“Nadie quiere morir. Incluso aquellos que quieren ir al cielo no quieren morir para ir allí. Y con todo, la muerte es el destino que todos compartimos. Nadie ha escapado a ella. Y así debe ser, porque la muerte es probablemente el mejor invento de la vida. Es el agente de cambio de la vida. Elimina lo viejo para hacer sitio a lo nuevo. Ahora lo nuevo sois vosotros, pero algún día, no muy lejos de hoy, os iréis haciendo viejos y también desapareceréis. Siento ser tan dramático, pero es la verdad.

Vuestro tiempo es limitado, así que no lo perdáis viviendo la vida de otros. No quedéis atrapados en el dogma, que es vivir con los resultados del pensamiento de terceros. No dejéis que el ruido de las opiniones de los otros ahoguen vuestra propia voz Y lo más importante, tened el valor de seguir vuestro corazón y vuestra intuición. De alguna manera ellos ya saben lo que de verdad quieres ser. Todo lo demás es secundario.”

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
